Luis Capaldi tops the UK Singles Chart with “Pointless”.

After six weeks, Luis Capaldi has finally managed to put his latest song at the top of the UK Singles Chart. “Pointless,” co-written with Ed Sheeran, climbs 14 spots to No. 1, leaving only one debut in the top 40: Skrillex’s “Rumble (With Fred…, Flodden & Ellie Duhey),” at No. 19.

Three other songs climbed the ranks and reached the top 40. Miguel’s “Sure Thing” is the most impressive, shooting 83 to 14. Tory Lanez’s “The Color Violet” moves from 41st to 36th, and Hotel Ugly’s “Shut Up My Mom’s Calling” moves from 47th to 38th.

The top 10 looks like this:

1- “Pointless” – Luis Capaldi (up 14 places)
2 – “Escapism (feat. 070 Shake)” – Ray (One Place Down)
3 – “Kill Bill” – SZA (Up to a Level)
4 – “Anti-Hero” – Taylor Swift (down two places)
5 – “Confusion in Heaven (with Goddard)” – Wenbee (Down Two Places)
6 – “Let Go” – Central Sea (same stage)
7 – “Made You See” – Megan Coach (dropped two places)
8 – “Peace” – row (same position)
9 – “Miss You (feat. Robin Schulz)” – Oliver Wood (Two Places Down)
10 – “Out Of Nowhere (With Dee Dee)” – Bucky Malone (Down In A Place)

Taylor Swift

The album chart continued in much the same fashion as last week, with Taylor Swift’s “Midnights” ending its fifth straight week at No. 1. Albums ranked two through five remained the same.

There were only two debuts for the week: “Phosphorescent,” by Gabriel Aplin at No. 15, and Iggy Pop’s “Every Loser” at No. 33.

Here are the top 10:

two-“SOS” – SZA (Same Stage)
3 – “Highlights“- weekend (same stage)
4 – “=” – Ed Sheeran (Same Stage)
5 – “Harry’s house” – Harry Styles (same stage)
6 – “Screen call” – Eminem (moved up two spots)
7 – “Diamonds” – Elton John (a place dropped)
8 – “I am” – Arctic Monkeys (moved up one level)
9 – “50 years – don’t stop” – Fleetwood Mac (up to three places)
10 – “Divinely uninspired on a hellish scale!” – Luis Capaldi (up to six spots)
