Users are not tired of demanding improvements in the performance of health centers in VFX municipality, starting with hiring more doctors

The Tagus Estuary Health Center Group has already begun implementing the improvement recommendations made by the Internal Audit Office of the Regional Health Department.

The health centers in Alverca do Ribatejo and Vila Franca de Zira suffer from deficiencies in users’ access to health care, in the rules for accessing the facilities, as well as in the behaviors adopted by security guards. The flaws were highlighted in the audit conducted by the Internal Audit Office of the Regional Health Department (ARS) in Lisbon and Vale do Tejo which was completed at the end of the summer. Many operational problems were found in the two units that need to be reviewed and improved by the Tagus Estuary Health Centers Group (ACES).
In Meranti, the ARS confirms the result of the audit, explaining that the procedures adopted in the Family Health Unit and the Personal Health Care Unit of the two health centers were analysed, with regard to the ability of users to access health care in the event of failure of the computer systems. The review also analyzed the actions of security guards in these health units and the way they behave towards users will be reviewed in the future “in order to ensure continuity in the provision of health care and standardization of procedures,” as the reconstruction service explains.
The review resulted in recommendations aimed at reviewing procedures in the event of a computer failure, and ACES Esttuário do Tejo was asked to define better and clearer rules for the actions of health center security guards, so that they respect users’ right of correct access to the facilities. Good reception and respect for their privacy. ARS confirms that “the Executive Management of ACES Esttuário do Tejo has already begun implementing the recommendations made by the Internal Audit Office.”
In April, remember, the Minister of Health, Manuel Pizarro, promised at a meeting with the mayors of the VFX Council to review the way health centers were managed by ACES. This was at a time when mayors lamented the deterioration of health care provision in the municipality. In a municipality where almost half of the users do not have a family doctor and where two health centers no longer even have doctors on duty – Forte da Casa and Alehandra – the mayors did not fail to convey their concerns about the health situation.
