“Today I call on the G7 member states to adopt legislation so that all necessary measures are taken to ensure the confiscation of all Russian assets intended for the reconstruction of Ukraine,” Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba stated.

Ukraine’s diplomatic chief attends the G7 foreign ministers meeting in Engels, northern Germany.

Kuleba also said that sanctions “without the Russian oil embargo” could show a “breaking of the unity” of the European bloc.

G7 foreign ministers began a three-day meeting on Thursday in Schloss Weissenhaus on Germany’s Baltic coast, which currently holds the group’s annual rotating presidency.

In addition to Germany, the Group of Seven (G7) includes Canada, the United States, France, Italy, Japan and the United Kingdom, and the European Union also participates in the meetings of the group.

Russia launched a military attack on Ukraine on February 24 that killed more than 3,000 civilians, according to the United Nations, which warns that the real number is likely to be much higher.

The military offensive has caused more than 13 million people to flee, more than 6 million of whom are outside the country, according to the latest United Nations data.

The international community in general condemned the Russian invasion, and responded by sending weapons to Ukraine and tightening economic and political sanctions on Moscow.
