Russia threatened the United Kingdom this Monday (6) with attacks on its military bases inside and outside Ukraine if it uses British weapons in its operations against Russian territory.

Nigel Casey, the British ambassador in Moscow, warned that “retaliation to Ukrainian attacks with British weapons against the Russian border could be on any UK military base or equipment inside or outside Ukraine,” the British ambassador said in a statement. Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Casey was invited by the Russian Foreign Ministry following a statement by British Foreign Secretary David Cameron in which he said Kiev had the right to strike targets in Russia with London-supplied weapons.

“Russia sees Cameron’s words as confirmation of London’s serious escalation and growing involvement in military operations on the side of Kiev,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

Moscow issued a “strong objection” to the British ambassador, saying Cameron’s statements contradicted earlier claims that the London-supplied cruise missiles “will under no circumstances be used on Russian territory.”

Casey was warned of the “disastrous consequences of such hostile action on the part of London” and urged to “rebut in the strongest and clearest terms the belligerent and provocative statements of your boss”.

The French ambassador was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry this Monday, following statements by French President Emmanuel Macron, who reiterated that he could not rule out sending NATO troops to Ukraine if needed.

“We are seeing a verbal escalation from official representatives. We are seeing this at the level of heads of state when it comes to France, and at a very special level when it comes to Great Britain,” a Kremlin spokesman said. Dmitry Peskov, at a press conference. (with EFE Agency)
