Today, Friday, Jude Bellingham won the Golden Boy award for 2023, awarded by the Tuttosport newspaper. By obtaining 97% of the votes, the English midfielder dominated the selections of the jury consisting of 50 European journalists, obtaining 485 points out of a total of 500.
Bellingham, who is only 20 years old, moved from Borussia Dortmund to Real Madrid at the beginning of the current season, for 103 million euros. Since his arrival at the Spanish club, the young man has been very decisive: in the 14 matches he played, he scored 13 goals and contributed three assists, among other matches, in the “Clásico” against Barcelona.
Along with Bellingham, Erling Haaland, from Manchester City, won the Golden Player of the Year award for 2023, while Lamin Yamal, from Barcelona, had the distinction of being the youngest player ever to climb the Golden Boy podium, at just 16 years old. When it comes to women’s football, Linda Caicedo, also from Merengues, has been elected the golden girl.
