Hey The James Webb Space Telescope began sending back its first images from space about two years ago, and to celebrate the moment, the space agencies responsible for the equipment — NASA, the European Space Agency and the Canadian Space Agency — decided to share a special image.
The image in question is of a cluster of galaxies known as Arp 142, also known as the “Penguin and the Egg,” located 326 million light-years from Earth. Previous investigations have suggested that the region is responsible for the formation of between 100 and 200 new stars.
Beyond these two galaxies, the image also shows a series of other galaxies in the background, which NASA calls a “testament to the sensitivity and resolution” of the cameras aboard James Webb.
