Metropole Digital Company (IMD/UFRN) will be hosting an event to promote the International Chevening Scholarship program next Tuesday the 15th. The initiative offers scholarships to those interested in pursuing a postgraduate degree in the United Kingdom.
The event will take place at 7pm, in room B206 and is completely open to the public, with no pre-registration required to participate. Its mission is to encourage the participation of botiques in the program – whose registrations will open this month. Annually, the program selects 1,500 students from 160 different countries.
In the meeting, the participants can clear their doubts about the examination process and are given experiences and tips to increase their chances of success in the examination process. The event will be hosted by Brazilians and former scholarship recipients of the program, Lorenzo Capriglione and Caroline Guerino.
Each year, the program selects around 50 Brazilians, whose scholarships cover university fees, plane tickets, visas and a monthly allowance, which is usually enough to live in the country. Potiguar candidates have already been selected in previous editions of the program.
This will be the second event to promote Chevening Scholarships at UFRN this year, which will be held at Zila Mamede Central Library (BCZM) in July. A similar event took place at IMD in 2016, when scholarship opportunities were offered to the institute community for the first time.
Chevening Scholarship
The largest scholarship program in the United Kingdom, the Chevening Scholarships cover various academic institutions in European countries such as Oxford and Cambridge Universities.
With an international community of Chevening alumni now exceeding 50,000, the program targets professionals who demonstrate the ability to inspire, inform and influence positive change in their home country.
In addition, to participate in the initiative, it is necessary to know how to communicate in English, have a graduation diploma and at least two years of professional experience, with valid voluntary work.
During the selection process, applicants must demonstrate leadership and networking skills and have a career plan in mind, which will serve as a basis for showing how the master’s program will support the candidate in achieving his or her goals.
Upon completion of the program, participants must return to Brazil and spend at least two years there. According to IMD Professor Leonardo Becerra, the feature is an opportunity for former scholarship holders to join doctoral studies.
