The Blue March campaign, organized by the Brazilian Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (Sobed) and the Brazilian Society of Colon and Rectal Medicine (SBCP), aims to alert the population about colorectal cancer.
Colorectal cancer is the third most deadly type of tumor in Brazil, affecting about 40,000 people annually. To draw attention to the importance of diagnosis and treatment, many buildings and attractions in Brazil receive special blue lighting.
In the Federal District, the Palacio de Planalto, the National Council of Justice and the National Congress lit up. The campaign is supported by the Brazilian Medical Association (AMB), the Federal Council of Medicine (CFM), the Brazilian Association for the Prevention of Bowel Cancer (Abrapreci) and other medical entities.
