The local government announced that those infected with the Covid-19 virus in Hong Kong will now have to wear an electronic bracelet, in a measure that follows the Chinese model, with its policies aimed at limiting the spread of the virus. COVID-19.

These “quarantine bracelets”, which will become mandatory on Friday, must be worn by all people who test positive and who are quarantined at home to ensure that they do not leave their area of residence during the isolation period.

“We have to make sure that home isolation is more accurate and humane,” the Guardian quoted Hong Kong’s new Health Minister Lu Chung Mao as saying.

Violation of Hong Kong’s mandatory quarantine order is punishable by a fine of up to HK$25,000 (about 3,100 euros) and up to six months in prison.

This is the third type of quarantine bracelets adopted by Hong Kong. The first bracelet was plastic and worked with a QR code while the second had a huge electronic bracelet. Regarding what will be adopted on Friday, the Minister of Health did not reveal more details.

Lu Zhong Mao also revealed that the Hong Kong government “recommends” the implementation of part of the Chinese health law. This method tracks people’s movement via their mobile phones and only allows healthy citizens to enter public spaces, which are communicated through a QR code, which turns green.

The icon turns yellow if people have been in close contact with an infected person and turns red if the person has tested positive for the virus.
