The Public Ministry of the State of Minas Gerais (MPMG) has decided to close an investigation into possible irregularities in the contracts of the Municipal Health Department of Poços de Caldas. The information was published on Friday (7) on the governorate’s social networking sites. The municipal administration said that the deputy refused to open a criminal investigation.
According to the city council, the prosecutor’s office understood that there was no justification for the continuation of the investigation by the deputy, “in the absence of criminal authorship and materiality.” This, according to the prefecture, was the impetus for archiving news at this time.
The complaint sent to the Public Prosecutor’s Office referred to the facts confirmed by the CPI established by the Poços de Caldas City Council. The case was referred to the MPMG by the councilors.

Until the most recent update of this report, the city council had not commented on the MP’s decision.
The CPI was created after complaints were received by the City Council Board of Directors. As counselors were informed, some doctors received, at the beginning of the year, a range of R$90,000 in overtime or on duty, as well as an average salary of R$30,000. Between February and April of this year, a doctor received 75 consultations in one day.
Also, according to the complaints, an outside company was responsible for making payments to doctors who worked in hospitals, including field hospitals. Even a doctor would be married to the owner of this offshore company.
The CPI was created at that time headed by Chancellor Silvio Ruggiero Carvalho de Assis (MDB). Council member Claudini Donizetti Marques (PSDB) was elected Vice-Chair and Denny Lennon Di Paolo (PT) was elected Rapporteur.
