The Belsas Health Department said it is taking all necessary measures and care in relation to the case. The patient is in isolation, tests have been collected and sent to São Luis.

“We have already formed a task force to examine the patient and isolate this patient and isolate cases that have been in contact with this patient. So, it was a task force for us to be able to get the results and achieve this blockage as soon as possible. This blockade and I tell the residents, which is just Suspect, we have already collected the suspicious material and sent it to São Luis.

a Already reported to Maranhão and ruled out two suspected monkeypox cases. Both cases have been reported in São Luis. This Friday (17), the Ministry of Health (SES) reported in a note that a case after the Ministry of Health was ignored after sending a negative result for a laboratory examination for analysis.

The suspected case, which health agencies have ruled out, will be a 30-year-old man, with no travel history, who had similar symptoms of the disease. The patient remains in home isolation pending the diagnosis of his infectious condition.

The initial symptoms of monkeypox are usually fever, headache, muscle aches, back pain, swollen glands (lymph nodes), chills, and fatigue.

After the incubation period [tempo entre a infecção e o início dos sintomas]the individual begins with a nonspecific appearance, with the symptoms we observe in other viruses: fever, malaise, fatigue, loss of appetite, prostration,” explains Gillian Trindade, virologist and researcher at the Department of Microbiology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG).

Within one to three days (sometimes longer) after the fever appears, the patient develops a rash that usually begins on the face and spreads to other parts of the body.
