In England, royal guards passed out due to the heat

At least three members of the Royal Guard fainted from the heat during a military parade in London on Saturday (10). The parade, known as the Colonel’s Review, was inspected by Prince William, the heir to the throne, and the Honorary Colonel of the Welsh Guards.

Despite the temperature hovering around 30 degrees Celsius, the more than 1,400 officers attending the event were dressed in woolen coats and bearskin caps, which added to the feeling of warmth.

“[Foi] It’s like being in a sauna with a 200kg dumbbell in your left hand,” James Galford, one of the soldiers, reported to The Telegraph. “[A cerimônia] It’s a lot harder than what you see on TV.”

The event was a rehearsal for the Trooping the Color pageant next Saturday (17) with King Charles III in attendance. The military parade is held every June and marks one of the king’s official birthdays – traditionally, the king celebrates his birthday twice a year.

“A big thank you to all the soldiers who took part in the colonel review in the heat this morning. Difficult conditions but you all did a great job. Thank you. W”, Prince William posted on a social network.
