With a redesign in June, Google Messages is working on a stamp that can mark RCS-type chats to distinguish them from chats in the traditional format.
According to the discovery made by the site 9to5Google, the function leaves an icon of the application itself in the lower right corner of the contact’s profile picture, when RCS is activated in that conversation. See some examples in the screenshots below:
Also as you can see, the badge can adjust its color according to your Android phone’s default color palette. In other words, it is customizable to your preferences within the operating system.
Until then, it was necessary to open each conversation to see if there was an indication of “Chat RCS” or “Exchange text messages”, to see if this conversation used the new technology or if it was still a standard SMS.
The RCS Seal is still in the testing phase. It can be seen via the latest beta build of Messages with build number 20230615_02_RC00. There is still no expectation that the feature will be available in the latest version of the app.
It should be noted that Google Messages has added support for 100 group chat members through RCS technology, since mid-January of this year.
