Fast-rising independent act Fast Money Music is set to release its self-titled debut album this Friday, 17 April, alongside a new single, “Nevermind” featuring Oliver Marson, marking a pivotal moment in the group’s steady ascent within the UK alternative music scene.
The release follows a string of critically noted singles that have secured airplay on stations including BBC Radio 6 Music and Radio X, as well as editorial support from outlets such as Clash Magazine and Apple Music. With growing industry backing and a developing live presence across London and Europe, the debut LP positions Fast Money Music as a noteworthy entrant in the UK’s independent music market.
“Nevermind” underscores collaborative and thematic direction
The lead single, “Nevermind”, reflects the project’s emphasis on spontaneity and collaboration. Written in a single session, the track emerged from an improvised bassline and experimental production techniques, evolving into a conversational, speak-sung composition that explores themes of rejection and resilience.
“Oliver came into my studio one day and the song pretty much wrote itself,” shares Nick Hinman, “Rejection is universal, but pulling yourself up by your bootstraps is unique. Anyone can wallow in the fear, but I admire the resilience of those who can take it with a grain of salt. As our boy Nietzche once said, ‘What doesn’t kill you, makes you stronger.’”
“Some of the best songs come together in just one day and that’s exactly how Nick and I wrote Nevermind,” adds Oliver Marson”, “What I liked about this was it felt so natural and it was like a conversation. It was also just really fun, which is what music should be all about. I’ve been leaning more into co-writing because every session teaches me something new and sparks ideas I wouldn’t have found on my own. My musical journey hasn’t been all smooth, though rejection has been a constant teacher. And that’s what this song is really about. Instead of stopping me, it’s pushed me to write more, collaborate more, and trust that every ‘no’ is just making space for the right ‘yes.’’
The track blends irony with sincerity, delivering a wry take on creative setbacks while maintaining a playful tone. Musically, it draws comparisons to artists such as David Byrne and The Human League, with stylistic nods to Nirvana.
Debut album shaped by decade of material and industry collaboration
The forthcoming album, also titled Fast Money Music, has been written over a ten-year period and reflects a mix of influences spanning post-punk, art pop and new wave. According to Hinman, the record combines personal narrative with broader thematic exploration.
“The debut Fast Money Music LP is a carousel of images and vignettes,” explains Nick, “some pulled from the attic, some found at the front door. It’s part novel, part autobiography, part love story, part tragedy, and part comedy: life on life’s terms. More than anything, it feels like the most authentically me – an amalgamation of memories and experiences, pulling from art pop, post-punk, and new wave, yet landing fully in its own world.”
The project has drawn on a network of established collaborators, including contributors associated with The 1975 and Klaxons. Production duties were handled by Grammy-nominated producer Mikko Gordon, whose credits include work with IDLES and The Smile, alongside Nick Hinman. Mastering was completed by Matt Colton, known for projects with Depeche Mode and Arctic Monkeys.
Growing profile within UK and European live circuit
Since emerging in 2022, Fast Money Music has built a loyal audience through a series of sold-out headline shows across East London venues, alongside international appearances including a showcase in Paris and a scheduled slot at The Great Escape 2025 — one of the UK’s key industry festivals.
Support from influential broadcasters such as Jack Saunders and Steve Lamacq has further elevated the act’s profile, while streaming placements on platforms like Apple Music and Spotify have broadened its reach.
The group is also set to continue its live campaign with upcoming performances in London and Paris, reinforcing its presence on the European circuit.
Release marks strategic step in independent growth trajectory
The simultaneous release of a lead single and full-length album reflects a coordinated push to capitalise on recent momentum and expand the act’s footprint in a competitive independent music market.
With its blend of collaboration, genre-crossing influences and consistent industry support, Fast Money Music’s debut arrives at a time when UK alternative acts are increasingly leveraging both streaming platforms and live performance to build sustainable careers.
The album Fast Money Music and single “Nevermind” are scheduled for release on 17 April 2026.
