Exports from Rio Grande do Norte between January and November grew by 48% this year compared to the same period in 2021. The figure is part of the publication “Comércio Exterior do RN – January to November”, released this week by the Center International (CIN) Federation of Industries of Rio Grande do Norte (FIERN).
The report shows that between January and October 2022, the value of exports from Rio Grande do Norte exceeded 672 million US dollars. The publication also highlights the role of diesel oil, which represents more than half of the value of the country’s exports, with more than $342 million exported during that period. Other products that stand out are watermelon, $75 million, and salt, $42 million.
Singapore remained the main destination for exports, with 49.2% of total exports from Boteguar thanks to diesel oil. It is followed by the United States (13.1%), the Netherlands (6.5%), the United Kingdom (5.6%), and Spain (4.5%).
Imports between January and October grew by 33.2% compared to the same period in 2021, with imports totaling $394.2 million. With 44.7% of the total, China remains the main source of imports, of which 82.6% is wind power generation and photovoltaic equipment and parts. From Argentina, the second major origin (13.9%) and from the United States (11.7%) the third.
As a result, in addition to the increase in exports and imports, the trade balance grew from 158.7 million US dollars in 2021 to 278.6 million US dollars in 2022.
