“shaq longing” On Saturday, Di Maro entered, for the first time, the “Top 10” bookmakers to win Eurovision, at a table led by Ukraine.

The song, written and performed by Maru, was the most-voted by both the regional jury and audience, receiving 12 points each at the song festival.

Maro is the artistic name of Mariana Seca, from Lisbon, who grew up in a family environment characterized by music, began studying piano at the age of four, attended the Conservatory and studied at Berkeley School in Boston, United States. In 2018, he released his debut album, homonym.

The organization announced that the Portugal representative at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest will play in the first semi-final of the competition, scheduled for May 10.

The 66th Eurovision Song Contest takes place in May in Turin, Italy and 40 countries will compete. The semi-finals are scheduled for May 10 and 12 and the final on May 14.

According to the information available on the official website of the competition, the Portuguese song will be presented in tenth place in the first semi-final, which includes 16 other countries.

This year, there were supposed to be 41 countries in the competition, but in late February, just a day after the invasion of Ukraine, the European Broadcasting Union announced that Russia would not participate in the 66th Eurovision Song Contest.

Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time in 1964, but failed in five editions (in 1970, 2000, 2002, 2013 and 2016). Between 2004 and 2007, inclusive, and in 2011, 2012, 2014, 2015 and 2019, Portugal failed to reach the final.

Portugal won its first and only Eurovision Song Contest in 2017, with the song “Amar aos dois”, performed by Salvador Sobral and composed by Luisa Sobral. After winning, Lisbon hosted the competition the following year.

In 2021, Portugal participated in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Love is on my side”, written by Tatanka and performed by The Black Mamba.
