We would really like to criticize the lack of resistance of modern smartphones, but the truth is that really well-built models, although not yet indestructible, are in fact almost as resistant as a battle tank. This is exactly why many enthusiasts and YouTubers always choose tests that are completely unrealistic for the average user, to understand which is the best-made and most durable smartphone on earth.

Want an example?

The S24 Ultra was frozen but survived to tell the tale!

Therefore, the Galaxy S24 Ultra may not impress in terms of design, because it is actually a copy of last year's S23 Ultra, which in turn was actually a copy of the 2022 S22 Ultra. However, in terms of pure performance, solid in all the important aspects, and durability, Samsung's latest entry in the range is a serious success story.

To prove this, we have 3 smartphones underwater, which later ended up being frozen to take everything to a slightly different level. We're talking about the S24 Ultra, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and even the Pixel 8 Pro.

All devices lasted 6 hours on ice! With several tests planned to understand the damage. We're talking about USB ports, speakers, cameras, etc. Meanwhile, in the case of the S24 Ultra, the S-Pen was also tested.

What happened?

Initially, there was some water buildup on the lenses of the Galaxy S24 Ultra, and also on the Pixel 8 Pro, but it all went away after a few minutes, with both high-end devices working properly.

In fact, none of the devices were subjected to the freeze test. However, it is important to note that it was submerged in water to a minimum depth. In deep water, where hydrostatic pressure comes into play, it is difficult for the smartphone's body to repel water, which is why the Galaxy S24 Ultra is only rated at a depth of 1.5 metres.
