Do you want to update Office applications? Microsoft 365 accounts only need to lock your PC

With Microsoft 365, users can access the latest versions of Office applications. These updates happen automatically and are controlled by the system itself, always according to the user’s rules.

One of the problems with this model is that updates depend on the users and how they leave these applications on their PC. This now appears to be a scenario from the past, according to Microsoft. From now on, everything will be simpler and more automatic.

Updating Office can be a problem
Microsoft wants to improve the process of updating Office applications.  For this Freshness prepared In Microsoft 365, which will be able to handle these operations in all situations, using only the availability of users and a locked computer.

A common scenario is for users to leave apps open on their devices for extended periods of time.  For example, if a user is working on a Word document at the end of the day, they can leave the document open and lock the device with the goal of continuing to work on it the next day.  When users leave their documents open this way, it prevents Office from applying updates.  With this feature, the user will return to a device in its previous state, but it will be running the latest version

Microsoft 365 will simplify the process
The described scenario is now more interesting and allows this process to occur naturally with the computer locked.  The problem of opening apps is no longer in use, which limited the update of these apps.  Upon returning, the user will find everything as it is, but with updated applications.
Now, with Microsoft Instant Run technology, processes happen automatically, but always under control.  If a running macro or unsaved changes are found, this process will be paused until there are conditions to update the Office applications.

It can only be accessed for some apps
This capability will come to Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as long as it's part of your Microsoft 365 subscription. Other apps like Visio or Teams will be left out, as they have their own updates separate from these mechanisms.
Although this is limited to Microsoft 365 users, it is an important novelty for Windows and its users.  Thus, these applications are able to update transparently and at the correct times, without jeopardizing all the work that users do.
