As allegations of inappropriate behavior by 85-year-old Francis Ford Coppola circulate behind the scenes of “Megalopolis,” the rumors are gaining strength with the release of a video clip showing the famous director and the man responsible for the film. The epic “Godfather” is shown forcefully accepting extras.

The video was released exclusively by Variety and quickly went viral.

Two anonymous sources involved in the production of “Megapolis” told the publication that Coppola warned over the microphone, before filming the scenes in question, that he might interrupt in the middle of recordings to kiss the extras. “I know this is just for my enjoyment.”He said.

One source confirmed that this type of behavior is highly unusual behind the scenes. “I’ve never seen a director do anything other than communicate with his actors. If he wants more energy, he tells them. I’ve never seen anyone touch something extra like that.”.

Coppola wrote, produced, directed and financed Megalopolis, which had a budget of over €110 million, with his own money. The film, Which includes actors such as Adam Driver, Giancarlo Esposito, Nathalie Emmanuel, Aubrey Plaza, Shia LaBeouf, Jon Voight, Laurence Fishburne, Talia Shire, and Dustin Hoffman. Opens in theaters in September.

The story follows the efforts of an ambitious architect (Driver) to revive New York, while facing opposition from the city’s mayor (Esposito). But Coppola paints the story as a parable: New York as Republican Rome, and the United States as an empire in decline.
