As the environmental capital of Brazil, Curitiba continues to invest in sustainability measures. This year, the city council intends to open a solar plant, which was installed in the Caximba landfill, which was deactivated in 2010. The place has received about 8.6 thousand photovoltaic panels. The opening will be on March 29, on the 330th anniversary of the founding of the city.

The environment minister’s strategy is to turn the space into a kind of “solar pyramid”, transforming the land that was considered a liability of the city council, since it was deactivated, into an environment for generating clean energy. .

sThe Solar Pyramid project was elected by the C40 Network of Cities and conceived with resources from the Cities Finance Facility (CFF) for its preparation, and follows the distributed generation rules of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). The program is funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Development and Cooperation (BMZ), the UK Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and the US Agency for International Development (USAID).

The Curitiba Mais Energia program includes, in addition to the work in Caximba, the installation of the panels at Palácio 29 de Março, in the Salão de Atos in Parque Barigui and in the Galeria das Quatro Estações, in the Botanical Garden. In addition to CGH Nicolau Klüppel, who generates energy from the waterfall in Barigui Park.
