CTT – Correios de Portugal announced that it will consolidate teams and distribute them on weekends and holidays during the next season, which will lead to an increase in parcel traffic, they indicated in a statement.

“CTT has already begun preparing its field operations for the expected increase in parcel movement during the peak season [época alta]», they pointed out.

The group said it recognizes “the importance of this period in the consumer habits of the Portuguese,” adding that “everything is prepared and implemented in advance to ensure maximum service quality and customer satisfaction.”

Therefore, “to respond in the best way to this difficult period of the year, in which an increase of more than 50% in the number of items handled daily is expected, the order processing and distribution teams will be strengthened” and “distribution is planned on weekends, holidays and during extended hours.” ».

CTT also prepares in advance to “collect items from key consignors” as well as organizing “two daily distribution shifts.”

Regarding customer support, “There will be a 30% increase in customer service resources and work teams during holidays and weekends, and if necessary, the operating hours of customer service lines will be extended for customers.”

CTT also launched the “first chatbot powered by generative AI (ChatGPT)”, adding that Helena, CTT’s new virtual assistant, provides real-time assistance, which combines informational and transactional components, making it possible, for example, to know the status “Who ordered it?”

To ensure speed, transport connections have also been “strengthened (800 additional last-mile distribution routes), including the Iberian flow,” the company emphasized.

The group also warned that “phishing schemes can become particularly relevant at this time of year” and asked that “extra attention be paid to all customers, so that they do not provide any personal or banking details, and do not open communications that appear suspicious to them.” “
