The story of Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo may not end in the UK. Al-Riyadi signed a contract with Saudi club Al-Nasr after a turbulent second spell with Manchester United. However, the Spanish sports newspaper Marca reported that CR7 included a clause in its contract that imposed an automatic loan to Newcastle if the club finished the current season of the English Premier League, the English football championship, in the first four places, to obtain a place in the next edition of the Champions League.

Newcastle was bought in October 2021 by a Saudi government consortium linked to Al-Nasr owners. Cristiano Ronaldo, on the other hand, is obsessed with the Champions League, the main European club tournament.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Champions League five times, four times with Real Madrid and once with Manchester United. He holds the record for most games played (183), goals (140) and assists (42) in the tournament. The second player with the highest number of goals in the competition is Argentine Lionel Messi, with 129 goals.

Newcastle is one of the biggest surprises in the 2022/2023 Premier League. After 17 rounds, the team finished third – ahead of such giants as Liverpool, Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester United.

Cristiano Ronaldo’s contract with Al-Nasr began on January 1, 2023 and will continue until the end of 2025. In the Saudi club, he will be the highest-paid player in the world, as he will receive 200 million euros (more than 1 billion Brazilian riyals) every year. For signing the contract, he also received a bonus of 100 million euros (more than R$ 564 million).
