Concerned about the increase in dengue cases, the Health Department held a technical meeting on Tuesday (3) to devise strategies to combat the Aedes aegypti mosquito. From January 16, SES must prepare risk communications on dengue, on a weekly basis and with a regional focus. There will also be a course on clinical management of dengue cases, aimed at Primary Health Care (PHC).

According to Secretary Areta Bergman, the intention is to provide data support so that municipalities can also define their own coping strategies. “It is a policy contemplated from the territory, in which the state provides municipal managers with data in order to devise combat strategies,” he explains.

At the meeting, Deputy Director of the Center for State Health Surveillance (Cevs), Marcelo Valandro, highlighted the improvements being made in the Dengue Surveillance Committee, to allow a multifactorial assessment, with environmental, laboratory and genomic data, that helps prepare risk assessments.

SES has yet to develop an advertising campaign to raise awareness about dengue.
