The health sector closed the first half of 2021 with 154,975 new jobs, of which 17,348 were in June alone, according to the Bulletin of the National Federation of Health (CNSaúde). The survey was conducted with data from Caged, issued by the Ministry of Economy, and is expected to Broadcasting.

In the past 12 months (July 2020 to June 2021), the sector generated a positive balance of 217,662 new jobs. In June 2020, the district had 15,347 new employees, 1,001 fewer vacancies than in the same month in 2021.

In an assessment by Clovis Queiroz, general coordinator of labor and union relations at CNSaúde, the numbers prove that the complementary health sector is on the rise. “We set a record in job creation. We closed this semester with a 40% increase in the number of vacancies in the whole of 2020,” he notes. “It’s a situation that has never happened before. This year has been really exceptional in providing jobs.”

Queiroz stresses that the increase in new jobs is linked to the growth of the sector itself, which has been recording a positive balance in the past ten years. “The Covid-19 virus has contributed, but it is not the only reason for the increase in jobs in the region. So far, the pandemic is no longer putting pressure on hospitals as before, job generation has been ongoing,” he explains.

In the first half of this year, the job creation balance was higher in health than in agriculture, which employed 152,496 professionals during the period. The stock of CLT workers in the health sector is currently 2.620 million.

São Paulo state concentrated most of the new jobs created in the first half of 2021, with 52,864 employees. Minas Gerais and Bahia appear next, with 13,874 and 10,604 professionals assigned, respectively. In June, São Paulo also came out on top, with 5,969 vacancies filled. Again, Minas Gerais ranked second, with 1,631 employees, followed by Rio de Janeiro, which has 1,409 permanent workers.
