The coronation of King Charles III in May will include a star-studded concert, a grand “national lunch” and a volunteer drive in addition to the traditional ceremony and procession, Buckingham Palace announced on Saturday.
The palace added that the three days of celebrations, ceremonies and social events will be an opportunity for “people to come together in celebrating a historic event”.

It is not yet known whether Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle, who live in the United States, will attend the coronation, which usually takes place a few months after the monarch takes office, amid national mourning and fine-tuning of the event.
The coronation of Charles III, the first in England since 1953, will take place on May 6 at Westminster Abbey. His wife Camilla, 75, will be crowned wife.
The couple will return from the palace without other members of the royal family in a “coronation procession”, known as the “king’s procession”.
To end the first day, the royals will greet people on the balcony of Buckingham Palace, where thousands of people are expected to gather on its esplanade.
The following day, a “special coronation” will be held at Windsor Castle and will be broadcast live on BBC TV, featuring “world music icons and contemporary stars”.
At night, with projectors, lasers and drones, a light show titled “Light up the Nation” will fill the iconic spots with colour. Neighbors and communities will be invited to attend a “grand coronation luncheon” as a “national act of celebration and friendship”.
The final day of the festivities, on Monday, will be organized by charitable and religious groups to “highlight the positive impact of volunteering in the country’s communities”.
