The Instituto S. João de Deus presented, this Tuesday, the project of the new Center for Integration and Neurodevelopment (CIN) for Young People with Autism Spectrum Disorders (PEA), which will be born in Casa de Saúde S. José, in Arias de Villar, Barcelos.

This new structure, with a budget of about 2.8 million euros, was recently introduced by Casa de Saúde S. .

CIN integrates two response types, CACI, with a capacity of 60 users divided into two units, and six self-dwellings with a capacity of five users each, interconnected into two functional units, for a total of 30 users. These new units will be structured keeping in mind the principles and values ​​advocated in national and international legal instruments, which frame the rights of persons with disabilities.

The new center is a community social response, whose main goal is to be able to provide citizens with autism spectrum disorder with tools that allow them to develop independence, combat social exclusion, prepare them for full integration into a protected work environment, and complement the intervention. With families with support and support.

The CIN project also provides for 53 job creation, with occupational categories ranging from psychologists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, physical education teachers and more.

The presentation of the project was attended by the municipality of Barcelos, the Social Security of Barcelos, the administration of ISJD and a group of parents of young people with autism.
