British Prime Minister Liz Truss announced her resignation on Thursday. Truss faced significant opposition within the Conservative Party in recent weeks and ended up announcing his departure after losing one of his closest allies, Kwasi Kwarting, the finance minister, and Soyla Braverman, the home affairs minister.

In the brief press conference, which lasted about five minutes, in which she announced her resignation, the Chief Executive of the Executive Branch said that she had entered the Cabinet at a time of “economic uncertainty and instability” and that “it is not possible to deliver on the mandate” that she was elected. For him within the Conservative Party,” “given the situation.”

Truss was the UK’s shortest prime minister at just 45 days. Governance marked by the introduction of a mini-budget aimed at lowering taxes at the most dangerous level, but later reversed, almost completely.

Liz Truss indicated that she had already spoken with King Charles III to submit the resignation and that new elections should take place within the party “to be completed next week”, with the aim of submitting a new budget on October 31 as expected. .

Hours earlier, the Prime Minister had met the Chairman of the 1922 Committee, Graham Brady, who was responsible for managing the party’s internal affairs, as well as the rules for the “Conservative” leadership, and would then have decided to hold a new election. This means that the British should have a third prime minister within months. Among the names within the Conservative Party are Rishi Sunak, Benny Mordaunt, Ben Wallace and Grant Shapps.

According to Sky News, Jeremy Hunt, the current finance minister, is not expected to run for the presidency. Shortly after Liz Truss’ announcement, Labor and Liberal Democrats called an immediate general election. “A fresh start is needed,” and thus, “a general election now,” opposition leader Keir Starmer wrote in a note.

Scotland’s first minister, Nicola Sturgeon, had already publicly called a general election, saying it was a “democratic necessity” as “there are no words to describe this complete chaos”.
