“And the“These attacks are a violation of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Iraq and are totally unacceptable,” the British Foreign Office said in a statement.

London accused Iran of “destabilizing” the region and urged the Islamic Republic to end the “indiscriminate bombing of Kurdish cities”.

Today, Germany also condemned the Iranian attacks on the Kurdistan region of Iraq, considering that “Tehran’s escalation” is “unacceptable” in the context of internal political protests in Iran.

A spokesman for the German Foreign Ministry said in a statement that “the Iranian escalation, which killed nine people and injured many others, is unacceptable.”

German diplomacy also rejected apparent attempts to “attribute the causes of the protests in Iran to the neighboring country”, as Iraqi Kurdistan is home to several Iranian opposition groups.

“We urge Iran to respect Iraq’s territorial integrity and immediately stop its attacks,” Berlin added.

The Ministry of Health of the Kurdistan Regional Government said that at least nine people were killed and 32 others wounded in a missile and drone attack carried out by Iran today in Iraqi Kurdistan against Iranian Kurdish opposition groups.

Soran Nouri, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Iran, said the Iranian attack hit Koya, 65 kilometers east of Erbil.

The group, known by the acronym KDPI, is a left-wing armed opposition force banned in Iran.

The attacks come in a context of tension in Iran, where, since September 16, it has witnessed daily night demonstrations to protest the killing of the 22-year-old girl, Mohasa Amini, who was arrested by the morality police.
