Starting next Monday, 08, the national campaign for polio vaccination for children under five as well as multiple vaccinations to update vaccines for children under 15 will begin.

All units will be ready to carry out this campaign. Parents must take their children to the health units from Monday to Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., or to the overnight vaccination room at the School Health Center in Villa dos Lavadores, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.: 30 p.m. .

In addition to the units, the Ministry of Health will be promoting Day D, on August 20, Saturday, during which all health units will be open for immunization from 8 am to 5 pm.

Polio is an acute infectious disease caused by a virus that can cause fatal and irreversible paralysis. Vaccination is the main form of prevention. The oral vaccine is given to children aged 1 to 4 years. The goal of the health department is to vaccinate 95% of the target audience.

On the other hand, the multiple vaccination is aimed at updating the children’s and adolescent manuals, according to the calendar of the National Immunization Program (PNI). Vaccines against tuberculosis, hepatitis, tetanus, diphtheria, meningitis, yellow fever, measles, rubella, mumps, chickenpox, influenza, COVID-19 and others will be available in the units.

For immunization, children must be accompanied by their parents or guardians and carry an identification document and a vaccination card. Children with a fever or diarrhea should wait until the symptoms have passed to be immunized.
