Autism Awareness Week implements free health measures and integrative activities |  amaba

World Autism Awareness Day, observed on Saturday (2), is a date that focuses on many activities aimed at combating spectrum bias. In Amapá, the state government organized a tip-off week with the Health, Recreation and Conversation districts that began on Friday (the first) and runs through April 8, in Macapa.

The activities are part of the Abril Azul campaign and are aimed at patients diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and also at family members who need specialized guidance.

The date was set by the United Nations (UN) in 2007 to bring visibility and combat bias with patients diagnosed with autism.

People with some degree of autism usually present: difficulties in associating objects, speech delays, specific interests, agitation, repetitive gestures and the like.

  • 4 and 5 April (Monday and Tuesday)
    9 am
    Emotional reception after diagnosis.
    10 am – Workshop on the development of speech and language.
    1 pm Emotional reception after diagnosis.
    2 pm Guidance on sensory stimuli in the home.
    15:00 – Workshop on the development of speech and language.
  • April 5 (Tuesday)
    9 am
    Emotional reception after diagnosis.
    10 am – Workshop on the development of speech and language.
    1 pm Emotional reception after diagnosis.
    2 pm Guidance on sensory stimuli in the home.
    15:00 – Workshop on the development of speech and language.
  • April 7 (Thursday)
    2 pm
    – a lecture on the benefits of continuing to present the INSS (location: auditorium of the Hospital das Clínicas Alberto Lima);
    15:00 – coffee break

Amapa State Rehabilitation Center (Creap)

  • April 4 (Mon), 2pm-5pm – delivery of hearing aids to children with autism, accompanied by a Creap and car stickers to mark a special vacancy (address: Rua Tiradentes, nº 1597 – Bairro Central);

The event will have the support of Superfácil, who will issue ID cards to children. In addition, “sunflower ropes”, which identify people with hidden disabilities, will also be delivered.

Minister of State for Education (Syd)

  • April 4 (Mon) at 7pm – Live broadcast on social networks to discuss the integration of people with autism into society.
  • April 5th and 6th (Tuesday and Wednesday), 9:15 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. / 3:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. – A conversation with specialists about children with autism spectrum disorder, at the Raimundo Nonato Center (address: Rua Barão de Mauá, No. 52 – Buritizal neighborhood);
  • April 8 (Friday) – closure of the program with a psychomotor circuit organized by specialists in physical education, at the Raimundo Nonato Center (address: Rua Barão de Mauá, No. 52 – Buritizal neighborhood);
