Asus unveiled the tops of its new Android range this week. Two models were revealed, the Asus ZenFone 8 and ZenFone 8 Flip, the first in a compact format and the second with a greater focus on photography.
A few days after its disclosure, Asus is leaving more accurate information about the support it will provide for the top of the range. According to The Verge, Asus ZenFone 8 will have at least two years of updates.
Asus ZenFone 8 will be updated at least until Android 13
Introduced with Android 11, this pair is guaranteed to receive top Android 13. The following two great Google OS interactions are guaranteed to everyone who buys the Asus ZenFone 8.
During the same period, the Asian company is committed to the periodic availability of appropriate security updates. Asus ZenFone 8’s service life is guaranteed until at least 2023.
Asus’ announced strategy now follows the streak of what the company has done with its latest peaks. Note, for example, the Asus ZenFone 6 with the promise of updates also for two years.
While the timeline set by Asus is welcome, it falls short of what some competitors have already promised. In the past few months, we have seen brands like Samsung or Oppo commit to three years of updates for their Android smartphones.
However, this time window has not been excluded by Asus, Vale emphasizes the “at least” part, leaving the possibility for the Asian company to change its mind and decide to support its peaks for another year.
