Argentina national team players left Brazil after testifying in front of the Federal Police (PF) on Sunday evening (5), according to information from a policy analyst at CNN Basilia Rodriguez. The Argentine national team published a picture of the athletes inside the plane on their social networking sites.
The Argentine delegation was notified to leave the country by the PF after four players from the team entered Brazil without complying with the mandatory 14-day quarantine for foreigners who had passed through the UK, as a precaution during the novel coronavirus pandemic. Emiliano Martinez, Emiliano Buendia, Giovanni Lo Celso and Christian Romero play for the Premier League teams.
The National Health Monitoring Agency (Anfisa) said in a statement that it met with representatives of the Argentine team and the Brazilian Football Confederation on Saturday to advise athletes to undergo quarantine at the hotel in which they are concentrated. However, everyone went to the Arena Corinthians, in Sao Paulo, to play the match, and three of them started as starters.
