Because of the scenario that shows an increase in dengue cases in the coming summer, the Operations Room of Arboviruses in Votorantim has decided to intensify its work in the city, especially in three boroughs. The team also set the work for the week of mobilization against dengue fever, which will be held from November 21 to 25.
Among the actions are holding lectures and exhibitions in the municipality’s schools and the bus station, and activities to guide the life cycle of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. Actions to collect unserviceable materials are also planned in the neighborhoods of greatest concern with regard to the index of house larvae: Jardim Serrano, Villa García, and Villa Dominguez.
Futuranthem Minister of Health Isilda Maris Chiuzuto de Moraes says that measures to combat dengue fever are necessary at the moment because the index of larvae in homes is greater than the value considered normal. And the population must be made aware of this problem, as the accumulation of water and the spread of the Aedes aegypti mosquito inside homes, where the access of public authority is limited.
The Zoonoses Sector, the Communications Department, and the Education, Public Services and Health Secretariats participated in the Arboviruses Operations Room.
