Alcarvil turnover grows 13% by opening borders with UK (with audio) – O Journal Economico

The opening of borders with the United Kingdom led to an increase in revenue in Portugal, an increase of 13% in the case of Algarve, and British citizens were able to return to our country this week. The data is from a study by REDUNIQ, the largest national network for accepting national and foreign card payments, published this Friday, May 28th.

During the week from May 17 to 23, flights from the United Kingdom will return and billing from British tariff cards across the country will increase by 80% compared to the previous week.

Of these results, 53% were due to an increase in the British audience. In the Foro district, spending increased by more than 111% during the week from May 10 to May 16 to May 17 to 23, while in the May 22 and May 23, British revenue in the Alcarve region increased by 231% compared to the previous weekend.

However, REDUNIQ data indicates that this growth is not yet sufficient to reach pre-epidemic billing levels, as total British billing is down 55% compared to the same period in 2019.

In the hospitality sector, for the 17th to 23rd week of May, Foro saw 57% growth, but here too the values are lower than the 46% recorded in the same period of 2019. In turn, the region’s restructuring rose 24% from May 10 to May 16, from May 17 to 23, with a 14% decline compared to the same period in 2019.
