As a player, the Belgian played for FC Porto and is now taking his first steps as a coach. However, the second season of the role does not seem to be going well.
Steve Defore has been sacked as coach at Mechelen, a club that plays in the Belgian First League, after leaving Defeated against Royal KnockWho plays at the amateur level in the Belgian Cup.
Mechelen still managed to reach penalties, but it was the non-pro team that came out on top. The person who couldn’t resist turned out to be Defor, who left the club position where he spent his training as a player.
Al-Shaar confirmed this in a short statement issued on the official platforms. “After the defeat to Knock, we had a long conversation. Together we looked at what could best be done to stop poor sporting results. The coach and the club decided together that a separation would be the best decision to make. We thank Stephen for his dedication and professionalism. “His behavior shows great respect for the slogan.”
Stephen Defour took over as coach of the Mechelen team during the 2022/23 season, but this season he achieved only three victories in 13 matches.
KVM and Steven DeFore are parting ways.
