Police in the canton of Aargau announced on Wednesday that a man armed with a knife injured several people, some of them seriously, in the city of Zofingen in northern Switzerland, before he was arrested.
Agence France-Presse reported that the police did not immediately reveal the identity of the attacker and his motives, as well as the number of injuries, some of which were serious.
The man initially attacked someone at the station in this city with a population of about 12,000 people, which is located about sixty kilometers south of Basel and the same distance west of Zurich.
He then walked off and attacked several other people, apparently at random, before retreating into a home, according to a police news release.
After about two hours, and after negotiations with a specialized team, the man was arrested by the police.
Police confirmed that the attacker was also injured and was receiving medical treatment.
Regional daily Argauer Zeitung It published the testimony of a man whose pregnant wife was allegedly attacked “with a metal object.”
Her husband told the newspaper that the woman “had injuries to her face and some swelling, but she is fine under the circumstances.”
The victim was taken to hospital in Aarau, about twenty kilometers from Zofingen.
Police launched an appeal for witnesses and asked the public to send videos and photos of themselves for investigation purposes.
