A man has admitted in court to stealing a gold toilet worth 4.8 million pounds (R$30.4 million) from Blenheim Palace in Oxfordshire, where former British prime minister Winston Churchill was born. This information was published by The Guardian last Tuesday, 2
Wellingborough resident James Sheen, 39, was charged with the offense in September 2019 along with three other men. Pleaded guilty to theft of property, transfer of criminal property and conspiracy.

The normally functioning toilet was designed by Italian artist Maurizio Cattelan and was being plumbed when it was stolen, flooding the 18th-century palace.
James Sheen is already serving 17 years in prison for other crimes. Among the man's previous crimes was the theft of R$2.5 million worth of trophies from the National Horse Racing Museum in Newmarket, England.
Three other men accused of stealing the toilet have pleaded not guilty and are awaiting trial. Michael Jones, Frederick Sines and Bora Guchuk are scheduled to appear in court on February 24, 2025.
