The new coins symbolize the new regime and are part of a collection inspired by the fauna and flora of the four countries of the United Kingdom. In addition to the portrait of King Charles III on the obverse, the edition features two bees, representing the more than 250 species present in the United Kingdom.

Apart from bees, other coins to be minted with Charles III’s image will feature the country’s flora and fauna, such as red squirrels and capercaillies, all in conservation schemes.

The new coins have the same size and shape as the previous coins, however, the size of the numbers has been enlarged to help children learn.
