“The results show that in a natural climate 10ºC would be recorded once every 500 years (on average), whereas in our current climate it might occur once every three or four years,” he said.
He added that unless carbon emissions are drastically reduced, “the UK’s average temperature will rise by 10 degrees Celsius almost every year”.
