Apple began official sales of its Vision Pro, a mixed reality headset, earlier this month. But some users are already complaining about their front screen appearing damaged for no apparent reason, sparking speculation about a possible manufacturing defect.
One Reddit user (r/dornbirn) revealed that he cleaned the screen and stored the product inside the box. The next day, the component developed a very suspicious crack. He also stated that there was no fall or collision with other objects.
Another post on the same platform says that the front panel cracked while plugging the headset in for recharging. The profile writer of the post explains that there was no possibility of the product breaking during the loading process, as it did not undergo any impact or fall.
Although the damage described on Reddit does not directly affect usage, it may bother those who want to keep the appearance of the device intact. Repairing the component is not very cheap, and for those who are not subscribed to Apple Care, it costs US$800, equivalent to R$3,990.
The repair cost is high for an already expensive product, costing US$3,499 (R$17,000). Apple has not yet commented on the complaints regarding the product, which has been surrounded by great expectations, but has become a major headache for the company.
Recently, the Cupertino giant began to experience a wave of returns from users who reported discomfort during use, mainly due to the weight (600 grams), larger than competing headphones, or even the lack of real benefit.
Apple was very optimistic about the device, which made a big impression during the announcement event and sold more than 180,000 copies in the pre-sale period alone. But now that the headphone units have started being delivered to buyers, the scenario seems to have changed.
