With 21 new ambulances, State Health has renewed its fleet and strengthens quality in emergency care – ACN

In an important ceremony for the health of the state, which took place on Monday, July 24, Governor Georginho Melo and Secretary of State for Health Carmen Zanotto delivered 21 new ambulances to meet the emergency requests of the residents of Santa Catarina. The cars, obtained with funds from Bancada Catarinense and the State Attorney’s Office, represent a major investment in improving public health services in Santa Catarina.

Governor Jorginho Mello emphasized that the new ambulances bring more quality to Santa Catarina’s emergency care system. “As the fleet is renewed, the service becomes more efficient, ensuring quick and adequate access to essential medical care,” he stresses.

The strategic distribution of ambulances aims to improve service in different regions of the country. 12 ambulances will be used to replenish SAMU 192 fleet in 12 different municipalities. Among them are three Advanced Support Units (USA) that will reinforce services in Araranguá, Balneário Cambori and Chapecó. Another nine Basic Support Units (USB) will benefit the municipalities of Bom Retiro, Bombinhas, Blumenau, Critima, Friburgo, Itapema, Itapoa, São Lourenço do Oeste and Ceará.

21 new ambulances were obtained thanks to the contribution of resources from the Fund for the Reconstitution of Injured Goods (FRLB) of the Public Ministry of Santa Catarina, together with parliamentary amendments from the then Federal Representative Carmen Zanotto, the Federal Representative Rodrigo Coelho, from the then Senator Jorginho Melo and Senator Esprediao. This joint effort by parliamentarians and public institutions reflects the commitment to improving the health infrastructure in the country and meeting the needs of the population.

In addition, the initiative includes nine other advanced support ambulances that will integrate service between hospitals. These units are specially designed to transfer patients between different hospital units, making the movement of people who need urgent medical care more flexible and safe. Among the highlights is the inclusion, for the first time in the state, of an ambulance equipped to transport obese patients, demonstrating concern for inclusion and appropriate care for all citizens.

The Secretary of State for Health, Carmen Zanotto, emphasized the importance of including an adapted ambulance for obese patients, noting that “the acquisition of a specialized ambulance for this public demonstrates our commitment to providing comprehensive and dignified care to all citizens of Santa Catarina, regardless of their physical conditions.”

With the delivery of the new ambulances, Santa Catarina is strengthening its emergency response capacity and improving patient transfer services between hospital units.
