Of all the changes made to Windows 11, the taskbar is definitely one that still raises some questions for many. Microsoft decided to drastically change the system toolbar between Windows 10 and 11, but not everything was for the better.

The new version of the taskbar has many new features for some users, and has been improving over the months – compared to when Windows 11 was released. However, there are still important omissions for some.

Not everyone likes the design of having application icons embedded within the taskbar, and would prefer a version in which application icons and names appear more prominently. Unfortunately, Windows 11 removed this possibility, and since the system’s arrival, one of the most common requests made to Microsoft has been to restore this taskbar functionality.

And, it would seem, finally, that demand can now be fulfilled. Microsoft appears to be considering the possibility of decompiling icons on the taskbar and showing window names, and this new version should arrive later this year.

According to the portal Windows latestSeveral sources close to Microsoft indicate that the company is developing the new one, and that it should be officially launched for Windows 11 within the next few months.

With it, users can restore an old feature of Windows 10, and optimize system usage to each person’s preferences. In fact, this functionality isn’t something impossible to achieve in Windows 11, considering that there are apps dedicated to the task — but it won’t be officially Windows.

For now, Microsoft is not leaving out details about what to expect from this feature or when it will start making it available to users.
