Former US President Donald Trump surrendered today, Thursday, to the authorities of the US state of Georgia, in Fulton County Prison, in the state of Atlanta, as part of the process in which he is accused of trying to change the election results. Presidential elections 2020.

Trump, who denies all charges and considers himself a target of political persecution, had until Friday noon local time (15:00 Mainland Portugal time) to fulfill his obligation to present himself to the authorities. He arrived at the prison at 7:34pm (12:34am UK time), 30 minutes after his plane landed in Atlanta.

After turning himself in, Trump was formally charged and released on $200,000 bail. He was released from prison less than half an hour after his entry, i.e. before eight o’clock in the evening. He told reporters in a brief statement at the airport before boarding the plane: “We did not do anything wrong and we have every right to question the elections, which we believe were unfair.”



And for the first time, among the various lawsuits he faces, Trump has been forced to make a decision mugshotThat is, the photograph taken of a person accused of committing a crime.

And it was this photo that Trump used to solicit donations, as he reactivated the account on the social network X (formerly Twitter), which has more than 86 million followers. In a post on Friday, Trump inserted a link that redirected users to the fundraiser.

The former president maintains that he has not committed any crime and is asking voters for financial support. Trump’s account on this social network was suspended after the invasion of the Capitol on January 6, 2022.

In the prison system, Trump is described as having blond hair, and the former president’s height and weight were recorded, according to his report. The New York Times. This Thursday, Trump will also shake up his legal team, appointing Stephen Sadow, an Atlanta attorney who specializes in Georgia anti-corruption law, which is one of the grounds for the prosecution, according to The Verge.
