Google Street View was launched on May 25, 2007, at that time only five North American cities were available. The tool now includes thousands of sites across multiple countries. To celebrate the history, Google has released a ranking of the most visited places in the world on Street View.

The first is the tallest building in the world, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai. Then comes the monument which is also one of the most visited in fact: the Eiffel Tower. In the hypothetical arrangement, the famous Taj Mahal in India comes after the former Paris library.

The Statue of Liberty in the United States of America ranks fourth in the opinion polls of virtual tourists. The Brazilian postcard Cristo Redentor, in Rio de Janeiro, goes into the middle of the top 10. In sixth place is the labyrinth of Rhyolette, a ghost town in the United States, about 190 kilometers from Las Vegas.

In Egypt, the Giza Cemetery deserves seventh honors in Street View visits. In the US, there is another highly searched place in the Google tool: the White House. The famous Italian monument, the Colosseum in Rome, fell to the ninth place, and the tenth is the Indonesian National Monument, located in Merdeka Square in Jakarta.

Google also released the 10 most visited countries on Street View:

  • Indonesia
  • we
  • Japan
  • Mexico
  • Brazil
  • Spain
  • Italia
  • Taiwan
  • France
  • United kingdom

The idea for creating Street View came from one of the founders of Google. Larry Page imagined the possibility of building a 360-degree map of the entire world, and 15 years later, there are over 220 billion Street View images from over 100 countries and territories.

The tool allows anyone to get the virtual experience of being in searched places using their phone or computer. Street View helps with exploration virtually and also supports Google’s mapping efforts, allowing the user to see the latest information about different locations in the world.
