Tonic has launched a digital library that brings together the contents of patient associations and allows professionals to find reliable information in one place and share it with patients, fighting misinformation in the field of health.

Thus, clinicians using the company’s solution can share contents with their patients, directly through the platform, or via email, as a complement to an in-person or virtual consultation.

The national startup reveals that this tool will affect “41 million patients and more than 110,000 doctors” and that it has partnerships with 25 patient associations in Portugal, Spain and Italy. Among them are the Portuguese League Against Cancer (LPCC), the Portuguese League for the Control of Rheumatic Diseases (LPCDR), the Portuguese Association for the Protection of Diabetics (APDP), and the National Federation of Chronic Diseases Societies (FENDOC).

With about 300 content, and about 75 diseases, the digital library will soon grow and will exceed 50 societies. In addition, the tool will be made available to all nurses through the Tonic Nurses app.

In order to integrate into the digital library, the resources produced by the recognized organizations, namely patient associations, as well as public entities and pharmaceutical and medical device companies are first analyzed and validated by the multidisciplinary team of Tonic App, which consists of seven components.

Francisco Cavaleiro de Ferreira, President of the Portuguese Association Against Cancer, stated that “Partnership with Tonic App is an important contribution to health literacy and an essential tool for clinicians to help cancer patients in dealing with their disease and comorbidities, to manage their anxiety as well as fight against misinformation that spreads through the Internet and social networks. In this area “.

João Filipe Raposo, Clinical Director of Associação Protetora dos Diabéticos de Portugal, notes that the tool “helps people to be confident in the information they read about their disease and its treatments, as well as about lifestyle measures they can adopt to stay healthy”.

Founded in 2016, Tonic is present in Portugal, Spain, France and Italy and is preparing to enter two more markets: England and Germany.
