Car problems are not uncommon and a new problem has now been reported in 4 models circulating in Europe. It affects Citroën, DS and Peugeot and puts several thousand cars at risk of fire, all because of a battery-related problem.

Severe fire hazard on 4 models

was through Safety GateThe European Union's Rapid Alert System for Hazardous Non-Food Products, formerly known as RAPEX, has arrived on alert. This highlights a new issue affecting 3 brands of the Stellantis Group which poses a high risk to consumers.

There are 4 models affected and they belong to 3 famous brands, Citroën, DS and Peugeot. The alert detects that these four models present a high risk of fire due to a construction problem. The companies have not placed any customer calls yet, but those calls are expected to appear soon.

Which revealed, and after comprehensive tests conducted, it is believed that these cars can be affected by water leaks in normal conditions. These intrusions will corrode the battery container, creating a problem with a high risk of fire in these vehicles.

The problem affects Citroën, DS and Peugeot

There are no clear figures on the extent of this problem, but it is estimated to affect thousands of Citroën, DS and Peugeot vehicles in Europe. The models of the brands in which the problem has been identified are known and their list can be consulted below:

  • Citroen C5 Aircross Manufactured between 01/20/2020 and 01/10/2023
  • DS7 Crossback Manufactured between 19/02/2019 and 22/11/2022
  • Peugeot 3008 V2.0 Manufactured between 03/12/2019 and 12/12/2022
  • Peugeot 508 V2.0 Manufactured between 07/10/2019 and 01/25/2023

If the customer has not been contacted by the brand, in the case of used vehicles, he still has the right to solve the problem. You should therefore contact the brands and request that the issue be verified and remedied. Brands in these cases must bear the costs, even if some components have to be replaced.
