Expanding the network, to bring CUF closer to those in need of healthcare, but also to offer a more diverse and complete offer, were the bets that led CUF to invest 120 million euros last year, in expansion, innovation and research. A decision that helped achieve better results: In 2023, José de Mello's healthcare group recorded profits of 38 million (+9.5% compared to the previous year). He decided to share the results with those who help achieve them on a daily basis: employees.

“The important contribution of employees to this performance has been recognized by allocating an exceptional bonus of €11 million, as well as continuing to invest in salary enhancement by increasing the wage bill by 7.8%,” reveals the company led by Rui Diniz. This entails, in exceptional pay alone, about 1.3 additional salaries per worker, SAPO announced last week.

As a result of the expansion of the network and scope of services – CUF Açores, Leiria, which will be ready in 2025, and with Hospital da Covilha joining the list in 2027, but also after the expansion of the home care and oncology network -, the health group revealed that “the united front has strengthened its proximity to population by providing health care to more than 1,200,000 people,” noting that 11% of the Portuguese people seek a united front. “The increase in healthcare provision, which allowed a closer and more flexible response through the national network of hospitals and clinics, digital channels or home services, translated into 2.9 million consultations, 10 million examinations, 43 thousand remote consultations and 64.5 thousand surgeries.” . And 451 thousand emergency cases and 4.3 thousand births, and this development in aid activity contributed to achieving a consolidated net result of 37.8 million euros.
