Developer Jason Rogers has launched a campaign for the Retro Gaming Watch on Kickstarter. It's basically a watch and a little game to play 8-bit and 16-bit gameswith Bluetooth technology and limited integration with smartphones that allows you to sync time and send and receive messages.
Powered by SoC DA14706, it features an Arm Cortex processor M33 160MHz, 1.5MB ram Internal, 8MB of QSPI RAM and 2D GPU. The settings are very modest compared to those in Smart watchesbut it is more than enough to satisfy the suggestion of an old handheld console that can also be used as a digital clock.
Project cost for 10 years in 10 days
In describing the crowdfunding campaign, Rogers says that the Retro Gaming Watch is a personal project that has taken nearly 10 years to get off the ground. According to the developer, in depth “all watches are technically jewellery, so having a great presentation is a secondary goal, but a small, portable console is compatible” with the quality of the controllers reaching 16-bit generation It is the focus of the project.
The Retro Gaming Watch (RHW) campaign launched on 12/22 with an initial goal of $35,000. In just 10 days it reached the US$56,000 mark. All Early Access levels and 30 beta test points have already been sold, leaving only the developer “moral support” levels, which only include development kits; and base levels for the final product, with delivery expected in November 2024.

For those interested in reselling or gifting the product, Rogers has also included support levels for a large number of 10 watches, totaling $1,599 USD, which can also be customized with engraved messages on the RGW case for an additional $25 USD.
