The President of the Assembly of the Republic is scheduled to receive the Portuguese deputies elected to the European Parliament today, Thursday. This meeting, which will be held in the Observatory of the Council of the Republic, will begin at 3 pm with a meeting in the Senate Hall.
“Within the framework of the constituent session of the European Parliament scheduled to be held on July 16 in Strasbourg, this meeting aims to strengthen cooperation and analyze issues of common interest between the Assembly of the Republic and the House of Representatives,” an official statement said. “The European Parliament in the new legislative body.”
In the European elections held on 9 June, the Socialist Party (PS) elected eight MEPs, the Democratic Alliance (AD) seven, the Chega two, the Liberal Initiative (IL) two, the Bloco de Esquerda (BE) one and the Coalition for the Unity of the Democratic Party (CDU) one.
The meeting aims to strengthen relations between national representatives and MEPs, and to facilitate the discussion of relevant topics at national and European level.
