The Osvaldo Machado Primary Health Care Unit serves 4,000 people in Divinópolis | Midwest

The headquarters of the new Primary Health Care Unit (UAPS) in the Serra Verde neighborhood, which opened on Saturday (15), will serve about 4,000 people in the space that will now also accommodate the Family Health Strategy Team (ESF). Osvaldo Machado Gontijo.

According to the Municipal Health Department (CEMOSA), the unit has the capacity to support two family health care teams.

The capacity of the service will increase from 3,200 to 4,000 users, which will also benefit the residents of Bairro Reinaldo Campos.

Osvaldo Machado’s former health unit has been operating for 20 years in a small rented house, with no structure of its own to provide care and no access.

The Minister of Health, Alan Rodrigo da Silva, indicated that the opening of the unit will meet the need to organize the physical structure, within the program to strengthen the physical network of primary health care, which is carrying out paintings and renovations in several units.

The work carried out by City Hall began in December 2021. It took 16 months to work on the building project, designed to ensure accessibility in all service areas.

The unit area is 430 square meters divided into 38 rooms. In all, there are seven medical offices, two dental offices, a vaccine room, a dressing room, two covered waiting rooms, a vaccine room, a room for health agents, a material collection room and all the supporting environments for the servers that will run on site.

The wellness center has no steps or slopes in any area.

The building is also equipped with four tanks with a capacity of 1000 liters of water to provide for any interruption in the supply. The entire building was covered with metal frame tiles and plastered to improve thermal comfort.

The team will consist of a physician, a nurse, two nursing technicians, five community health agents, a dentist, an oral health assistant and two public service assistants. There will also be support from the NASF Expanded Family Health Center multidisciplinary team with a dietitian, psychiatrist and social worker.

The second team has already been approved by the Ministry of Health, which will allow the recruitment of another doctor and nurse. The new health unit will also include a group of laboratory tests that have not been conducted before.
